Good bye 2016..bring it on 2017…

Hi All,

Once again I wanted to update this page on the different experiences I have gone through from the last time I updated here which was on July 2016.

  • In the month April 2016 I received the news my H1B got selected in the lottery and everyone around me were happy that I got a chance to work once again in the US.
  • Surprisingly my H1B processing center got changed to California Service Center from Vermont service center. I was surprised and it was very unusual , but later I was informed it was really due to the workload USCIS had and wanted to balance it out among-st the other offices they had.
  • It was a long wait for my H1B to get approved and surprisingly it went till November 1st week for me to hear the information that I got an RFE (Request for Evidence) and needed to submit more documents to get my case approved. My parents were really not sure what was going wrong , I remember my dad creating accounts in different names and was posting in public forums about what was different in my case and how to proceed to get my case approved. My employer later submitted all the required document and my dad pumped in some extra money to push it to premium processing so that I receive an quick answer for the reprocessing. On Dec 23rd I finally got my H1B approved.
  • I never felt really happy nor sad hearing that news, I still cannot relate to few things on why it was very complicated for me to get an H1B visa when so many other people walked away with it very easily. So I just kept mum and was just finding it hard to hide my feelings.  I informed my employer my H1B got approved and I was asked to travel to New Jersey from Raleigh to get acquainted about the process of recruiting.
  • Dec 31st spent my new year with my close family and wife. Later left to NJ on 3rd Jan and there started 2017. Wow what an year !!!!.
  • Couple of incidents which Sam and me went through in the last few months of 2017, I refrain to post it here considering how bold it was for her to undergo such an experience.

Its been almost a year !!

Hello all !!!

I am writing this post after about an year exactly when I lost my job (i.e 7th of July 2015) and would like to share the swirls and turns of emotions and feeling’s which I went through over this period.

So a short recap of all the events which had happened in this one year.

  1. Whiskey had come out of his eye surgery successfully and became healthy by the end of October 2015. He was treated at the Oklahoma state university vet clinic by Dr Simon Smith (not sure about the name). The staff overall had treated him with such grace and patience, thanks to them.So whiskey had finally come out of the surgery with a draft placed in his right eye. When I heard the news I was in Chicago and left the next day for his surgery to Oklahoma. Took a rental car and drove to Stillwater and stayed with Sam to be with whiskey.
  2. Later I went back to Chicago and moved to Rochester,Newyork to continue working on my capstone project with Prof Elissa weeden and Prof Bryan French. I had stayed there at my friends place (Srikanth Iyengar) without paying any money and using almost all his resources.Heartfelt thanks to him. My stay in Rochester was from the end of August to the 21st of December 2015.

Travel and brief events during the last one year ( August to July)

  • One thing I decided to do during my stay in Rochester was to reduce some weight and become lean before my marriage.

  • Evening snack was at Tim hortons, grilled chicken wrap without cheese and sauce , sometimes butter murruku from the Indian store.
  • Dinner used to be at my friends place and sometimes at subway or buffalo wild wings or at an Indonesian restaurant to eat Basil fried rice once in a while.
  • My workout was around 4- 5 times a week with a lot of cardio in the beginning and later muscle training. I lost about 25 lbs (11 kgs) before I left to India, thanks to Kris gethin’s 12-week workout program.

All is not well !!!

Life was going good until when I received my stem extension denial notice on 7th of July 2015. Not lot of people knew including me on why my stem extension got denied. In the denial process I lost my job. I was hitting the rock bottom. My Immigration attorneys told to depart the United States in 23 days (31st of July) and suggested me to either go back as a student or get married to a change of status within the remaining few days. My uncle alias mama was helping me getting around most of this. Out of all my wife Samyuktha was the one who single handedly helped me stay in the United states  . If not for her I would have been destined to leave without a job to India. Time will only answer on why we were put under tremendous stress before our marriage which is going to fall on Jan 27th 2016. Adding to all this chaos , we had our beloved dog suffering from a temporary cornea ulcer. He had to undergo a surgery at the Oklahoma state university vet clinic for small animals to remove his ulcer on his right eye. Myself, my dog whisky and my wife are waiting for the days where we sail through all this shit and come out beautifully to face this world with a clearer mind and stronger outlook for the next set of obstacles. Love you all !!! Good Night.
